Arrive in Gulmarg with a suitcase and leave the equipment to us. We rent the full range of skiing and snowboarding kit — piste and powder skis, snowboards and splitboards, boots, avalanche safety equipment and winter clothing — alongside certified instructors, mountain guides and porter support. Everything is charged per day, and we help you pick the right setup for your ability and for the conditions on the day.

The core kit. Tell us your height, weight and ability level and we will set the bindings and pick a length that suits you.
Powder Ski
Wide, floaty skis made for deep fresh snow. What most people want on an Apharwat powder day, when a narrow ski simply sinks.

Lightweight skis with a free-heel touring binding so you can climb under your own steam and lock down to descend. Pairs with skins.

Snowboard
All-mountain board with bindings, suitable for everyone from first-timers to confident riders. Boots are rented separately.

Skins
Adhesive climbing skins that grip the snow on the way up and peel off at the top. Essential for any touring or splitboard day.

Safety & Avalanche Equipment
If you are riding off-piste at Gulmarg, a transceiver, shovel and probe are the minimum. Carry all three, and know how to use them.
Transceivers
Digital avalanche beacon for locating a buried companion, and for being located yourself. Worn under your outer layer, switched on all day.

Shovel
Collapsible metal avalanche shovel. Plastic blades are not adequate for consolidated avalanche debris, so ours are alloy.

Probe
Folding probe used to pinpoint a burial depth and location once the transceiver has narrowed the search down.

Certified ski and snowboard helmet, adjustable fit, in a range of sizes for adults and children.

ABS Backpack
Avalanche airbag pack. Pulling the handle inflates a balloon that helps keep you nearer the surface of moving snow. Comes with a full safety brief.

Clothing & Accessories
Gulmarg gets seriously cold at altitude. If you have arrived without winter kit, this is what you need.
Ski Suit
Insulated, waterproof jacket and salopettes. Sized for adults and children, and warm enough for a full day on Apharwat.

Waterproof insulated ski gloves. A dry pair makes more difference to your day than almost anything else on this list.

Anti-fog snow goggles with UV protection. Vital in flat light and blowing snow, when sunglasses simply will not do.

- All rates are per day, per item. Multi-day hires and full packages can be quoted — just ask.
- Tell us your height, weight, shoe size and ability level when booking so the kit is ready and correctly adjusted when you arrive.
- Equipment is checked and serviced between hires. Bindings are set to your details on collection.
- Avalanche safety gear is strongly recommended for anyone leaving the marked runs, and we can arrange a guide to go with you.
- Availability is limited in peak season, especially for powder skis, splitboards and guides, so book ahead.
- Rates can change between seasons. We confirm the current price with you when you book.
